What is a Doula?

A Doula is a caregiver for pregnancy, offering emotional, physical and informational support.

A birth Doula is a labor companion and provides assistance before, during and after childbirth.

The role of a Doula includes supporting the partner of the birthing person as well to facilitate an environment that feels comfortable, supportive and nurturing.

A Birth Doula:

  • Recognizes Birth as a key life experience that the birthing person will remember all their life
  • Understands the emotional needs during pregnancy, birth and postpartum
  • Assists the birthing person and their partner in preparing for and carrying out their plans for birth
  • Stays by the side of the laboring person throughout the entire duration
  • Provides physical comfort measures and assistance to the birthing person with information they needs for decision making
  • Facilitates communication between the birthing person, their partner (if there is one) and clinical care providers

I am open and willing to work in different settings including hospitals, birth centers, and homebirths.

*For black, inidgenous, people of color and LGBTQ+  I  offer donation based and/or sliding scale doula services*

I work in the Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas.

I am here to support you through all phases of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

With love,

Naomi
